My Recent Hacker Encounter: Hostgator to the Rescue

by on October 21, 2011

Hey guys there have been a ton of people getting hacked recently even a good friend of mine got his site hacked and it was bad.

I had to go in and help him out by completely deleting his WordPress install to avoid any of his potential customers getting a virus as well.

Everyone always thinks it can’t happen to them until it actually does and by then it’s usually too late.

A couple days back I had one of my sites showing a “Threat detected” from my AVG antivirus everytime I went to the site. I was kind of worried since I didn’t know how long this had been going on and that site gets between 40-50 repeat visitors a day!

It’s a training site with over 25 videos so people are constantly on there watching the videos.

So you can imagine I was quite worried if any of my clients received any malware to their computer. I quickly fired up my control panel and logged in to 24/7 chat support.

What happened next is the reason why I will be a hostgator company for a VERY long time.

I chatted with the individual “Ryland” who was helping me and he told me not to worry the administrators will take care of it and removed the threat.

Literally before I can close the chat box I received an email saying the malware had been removed.I did not have to lift a single finger but to notify them of the threat and they took care of the rest.
